FAT Tuesday!

Happy Mardi Gras!

(Is that what you say "happy mardi gras" or should it be "merry mardi gras"?)

Going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans is on my bucket list. We went to New Orleans once on our honeymoon, it was fascinating! We were only there for about 2 days, so we didn't get to see much. Except, I did use my guide book and took my wonderful husband on a self-guided walking tour around the French Quarter. Hard to believe that was almost seven years ago..... Anyway, I plan on going back and partying like a true Hebert....

Well, I had full intentions of making a King Cake and doing a whole tutorial but time got away from me. But I couldn't not make something for Fat Tuesday! Soooo, I made delicious chocolate/chocolate cupcakes and threw some purple, green, and yellow sprinkles on them! Mardi Gras-ish enough for me!

The cupcakes pictured above are served on the Willow House Covington Serving Tray. Available on my Willow House site now. When I don't have cupcakes piled up on it, I keep it on my buffet by my dining room table with a vase filled with wine corks on it. It's a beautiful, versatile piece!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!

To-Do list

Where did January go? I can't believe it's over! I've made resolutions to eat cleaner (please ignore the last post about peanut butter cookies), work out regularly, be more organized and declutter...

Ok, no excuses! I'm really doing this!

I'm making a list of things that needs to get done this week. I've made myself a "chore calendar" to not let the house work get away from me. Working on a menu plan for the month of February. I've got a work out plan in place (I should be running on the treadmill right now). Who's with me?! We've got an extra day this February, let's make the most of it!!

How do you keep organized? Are you still on track with your New Year's resolutions??

Peanut Butter Bliss cookies

I don't know about you, but for me nothing beats the combination of peanut butter and chocolate! Here is a quick recipe if you get the sudden urge for a pb and chocolate combo...a dangerously quick recipe. :)

From this Taste of Home recipe: Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies.

1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
kisses or I used Dove heart milk chocolates

-Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-Cream together peanut butter and sugar until fluffy
-Add egg and vanilla and mix until combined.

That is literally how "difficult" this recipe is.

Scoop into desired size ball (I did about 1 1/4" balls), place onto ungreased cookie sheet about an inch apart. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.

When the cookies are done baking, remove them from the oven and place the Dove heart in the middle of each. Allow to cool on the pan for about 5 minutes because they are very fragile at this point. I put mine on a wire rack after about 5 minutes but the chocolate took much longer to harden.

Perfect for a Valentine's Day treat! :) Enjoy!

My Willow House Adventure

I was perusing Pinterest a couple months ago (before my work blocked the site, which I am sure had nothing to do with me...). I came across these large glass vases.

I clicked on the picture to find them, because I haaave to get them. I end up on the Willow House store site. Curiosity set in and I wanted to know what Willow House was. Willow House was Southern Living at Home.

Interesting....

How do I host a party? Because I want those vases, but I could get them for a host discount or even free. I searched my zip code and the closest consultant was in the state of Washington...what?!

Anyway, after thinking about the opportunity of bringing this Simply Good Design to Alaska and the possibility of bringing in extra income, I signed up!

I love all the designs of Willow House and more recently added the jewelry line by Sara Blaine! Please check out my site, sign up for the monthly newsletter, and let me know if you would like to host a party (it is all about those host credits!)!!
